“Susan Montee’s staff was professional, hard working and very thorough,” says Daly. “We are pleased with the results of the audit and credit goes to the well-trained, professional, experienced staff of employees in this office.” Montee’s staff spent more than three months at the Collector’s Office reviewing files, interviewing employees, and assessing operational procedures.

Our Missouri Department of Revenue License office is one of the busiest fee offices of its kind in the state. This is due not only to our location, but to our experienced and knowledgeable staff. So, in 2008 we renovated the office to double the number of service windows, we cross-trained employees to service customers faster at peak times and we have enhanced employee training programs to ensure that our staff has the answers you need.

In partnership with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, our license office sells vehicle anti-theft devices at a very low cost. License plate protectors are $5 per pair and steering wheel clubs are $12 each. According to this week’s figures we have now sold over 4000 devices!

The Earnings Tax Department has come a long way in improving efficiencies in the past three years. We upgraded most of the technology and streamlined job duties for faster processing of tax returns. We’re now implementing a document imaging system where we electronically scan all tax documents, rather than hold the paper files for the mandatory five years. This will also improve your turn around time on tax returns and leave less room for errors. This scanning program is really the first step into the full automation of the earnings tax department.

The December 31st deadline for paying your real estate and personal property tax bills is quickly approaching. We have made more payment options available to continually improve customer service. We hope you will take advantage of them and pay your tax bill by December 31st.

There are many ways you can make your personal property and real-estate payments. You can send us a check via US mail; you can pay online at www.stlouiscollector.com; you can pay by phone by calling 1-800-2PAY-TAX as noted on your bill; and through December 31st you can pay at six area bank locations identified on the back of your statement. As always, you can pay in person in Room 109 of City Hall with cash, check, debit card or credit card from 8AM – 5PM, Monday thru Friday. A third party convenience fee applies to all debit and credit card transactions with our office.

My staff in the office and at the neighborhood banks is thoroughly prepared for a robust property tax season. We look forward to serving you and all the taxpayers of the City of St. Louis!
